Mindfulness
Depending on your needs, we may use mindfulness techniques to help with anxiety, depression or stress. Mindfulness simply means paying attention to the present moment non-judgmentally. Mindfulness in psychotherapy can be transformative. It allows us to take a radically different approach to our difficult emotions and change the way we relate to challenging experiences. We become less gripped by our feelings of sadness, anger or worry, and find greater emotional freedom and calm. I teach clients how to use mindfulness tools to feel calmer and happier every day.
A large body of research has shown mindfulness therapies work to treat depression and anxiety, and are as effective as medication in preventing future depression. There is also early stage research showing that mindfulness may also help with obsessive compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, and eating disorders.
